All children are invited te attend : ed 3 BUILDING FUND RECEIVES DONATIONS The recent announcement of a new hospital has already caused financial assistance locally. Vic Mazzone, Hospital Administrator said Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Bryson of Schreiber were the first to make a donation to the building fund. A most appreciative donation was made by the Terrace Bay Youth Club in the sum of $250.00 raised from dances. It's nice to see the youth of today taking such a keen interest in the plans for the future. SEVENTY-FIVE OCCUPANTS EXPECTED AT BIRCHWOOD - TERRACE The Board of Management of the District of Thunder Bay Homes for the Aged held a meeting Thursday, October 24th, I974 at the Birchwood Terrace Home in Terrace Bay with all board members in attendance. Prior to the board meeting, a committee headed by Rena McAdam working on plans for the new hospital in Terrace Bay met with Chairman of the Board, Fred Harness, board member, Mrs. Margaret Sideen and Administrator Mr. Milton Vibert. They wanted to know what the Birch- wood Terrace residents would require in the way of services from the hospital so that they could plan accordingly. Figures from the experience at Pinewood Court would indicate that the three active treatment beds would be required when the home was full with 75 occupants. Fractures and chest conditions are the cause of most visits 'to active treatment hospitals. Considerable time was taken by M. Vibert to explain to the hospital people that from the experience gained at Birchwood the home would remain a residential care home and that at present the board had no intention of ad- mitting extended care residents. It was also an opinion expressed by Mr. Vibert that there would be a need for a continued page 3
