The Superiors, backed by their newly signed goalie, Richard Smith, held their own well for most of the opening two periods. However, in the final frame the visitors proved their strength with 7 goals. At the .end of the first period the score stood at 4-2 for Manitouwadge and the end of the second period revealed a 5-3 lead against the host team. Goals for Terrace Bay came from Mark Dashkew- ytch, Rick Hamilton, Jack O'Javee and Bevin Schritt. About 250 fans were on hand to see the game. The next home game will take place Thursday, February 8th against Marathon. Anyone following the league standings for our neighbouring league in which the Schreiber North Stars play, would know that the Atikokan Voyageurs, like the Terrace Bay Superiors, are resting in bottom place and also suffering severe loses. One member of the Atikokan executive Al Rostad, made some interesting com- ments "We know we're a young team in this league", he said, "and we're pre- pared for loses. But we still have much to look forward to, especially next year." Like our own Superiors, almost all of the Voyageur's players were in the midget division last year. This is their first year of Junior "B" compe- tition. Mr. Rostad also pointed out that home-town support has continued to be tremendous despite the fact that wins are not plentiful. Next year, he hopes their team will be better able to provide a stronger showing in the league once the boys have been season- ed for a year. To support a winning team is easy. To support a new and struggling club is often more reward- ing and more exciting. As the Voy- ageurs, our own Superiors are contin- uing to give a good account of them- selves irregardless of the final score. some * FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL TRUSTEE FOR THE VOTE KEN = UNLIMITED EFFORT Otek en} EC TT 1 BECAUSE KEN BELIEVES trv vuuss - EQUALITY OF EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY - DEDICATION BY TRUSTEES - COMMON SENSE SPENDING OF YOUR MONEY ACTION FOR THE STUDENTS -- TIME -~ PREPARED TO.
