An-assortment of games, arts and crafts were only a part of the daily activities. A cool, refreshing swim at Birdseye Pool on Monday was a perfect way to start off 'the six week session which began July 7. All participated in an exciting baseball game on Tuesday. The children travelled to Port Perry on Wednesday where they were delighted by a very entertaining puppet show. We would like to extend a very special thank-you to Mr. L.C. Davis who showed us some of his beautiful wood carvings Thursday after- noon. It was an interesting experience for everyone. The week was ended with an exuberant peanut scramble and peanut push on Friday. The theme for week two at Seagrave playground is "animals." Our craft for Wednesday was aquariums. We came up with several new species of fish cut out of paper. Thursday is Pet Day. Each child will bring his or her favourite stuffed pet and ribbons will be awarded in various categories. Dress-up day will be held Friday when each child will dress as an animal. Who knows what creatures we may find! PORT PERRY by Sandi Johnston And we're off. Playground '80 is well underway in Port Perry. It's going to be an action packed, exciting summer. Already we've had a visit from Brinkley and Doinkel, our outer space puppet friends. Our first week has been filled with crafts, sports and ) ED 7 = organized games. To top off the week we hosted our very own "'Olympics '80". Congratulations to our athletes for a good showing. we are eagerily looking forward to next week with its circus theme. All week our games and crafts will' be associated with the circus. Plans are underway to shape our own circus. Fri- day July 18. Of course the star performers will be play- ground members. Move over Barnum and Bailey. We are also looking forward to a swim at Birdseye Pool Wed. afternoon. Thanks to parents, kids and staff for a great first week. GREENBANK by Pat Bolton It's playground time again! Last weeks high- lights included swimming, a puppet show, and all sorts of games and crafts. This week is space week. That's right. All those martians and astro- nauts will be visiting Green- bank Playground. We will be making paper martians and our very own spaceships with which we will travel into space with. We will also be making rocketships and have races to see who's launches the best. All you children out there between the ages of 4 to 12 "fly" on in for this week's adventures into space. Be sure not to miss our visitor's from outerspace. SCUGOG ISLAND by Tracy Bongard The Scugog Island play- ground has just completed a successful week of fun and games. All the children had an excellent time. Although enrolment was a bit of a disappointment at first, it is steadily increasing and there is plenty of room for new applicants, especially older children aged 8 to 12 so special events can be carried out that require people support. The CONTINUES UNTIL SUMMER STOCK IS SOLD! JUNIOR LADIES SKIRTS, SLACKS, DRESSES, BLOUSES, T-SHIRTS, SHORTS & SWIMWEAR - ALL REDUCED - Starts Thursday, July 17th - 10 A.M. Next week is monster week, so come on all you ghosts, make yourselves visible and appear for our monster fest which will include "Spook Day" where everyone can dress like their favourite monster right down to jelly bean day, as well as the regulars, films, games and crafts. We are now playing at our new location at the Commun- ity Hall. Hope to see you all there! BLACKSTOCK by Caroline Carnaghan The Blackstock play- ground is off to a small but active start. Although there are only half the number of children we had last year, everyone seems to be enjoy- ing themselves. The first week's theme was Food, a very popular subject. Crafts this week included Pudding painting, playdoughing, paper mache, fruits, paper bag masks and pie plate frisbees. A tour of MacDonalds Wednesday was made complete with a free drink and hamburger. Wednesday afternoon everyone enjoyed the Doinkle and Binkley Pupet Show in Port Perry. The children also enjoyed making and eating fruit salad and cookies this week. A big thankyou to Danielle Clark who came and talked about health food. Swimming Thursday afternoon at Birdseye provided relief from the warm day.Volleyball, base- ball and soccer provided organized activity through- out the week. Next week includes a trip to Metro Zoo Wednesday and a visit to a farm Friday. Many differ- ent animals will be visiting next week also! CAESAREA by Jodi Timgren The first week of play- ground was successful and exciting. The theme was People and Me and we all got to know each other by cutt- ing and pasting our favourite things out of magazines. We played new games and had great fun. On Wednesday we went to the Binkley and Doinkle puppet show and the next day we made our own puppets and put on puppet shows. We had a scavenger hunt as well and the children thoroughly enjoyed that. This week is food week and the fun is only getting better. On Tuesday we had a food fair.
