TERRACE BAY NEWS __AUGUST 1, 1968 _ RECREATION BRIEFS - by David Courtemanche ~_ -- x Swim Meet at Marathon ~- The.Terrace Bay Swim siti Team travelled to Marathon last Saturday and once again were the winners - the second time in succes- sion. This Meet was a close one as we won 243 to Marathon's 235. This Terrace Bay team is shaping up into what we hope will be very strong competi- tion in the North Shore Swim Meet. North Shore Annual Swim Meet at Red Rock - The swim team will be travelling to Red Rock this com- ing Saturday for the annual North Shore Swim meet. For this trip we will have Mr. Scheuchenpflug's ne 60-passenger bus. The bus will be leaving Terrace Bay from the Recreation Centre at 11.15 a.m. Sat- urday morning, as the Meet starts at 1 p.m. E.S.T. Parents and all interested persons will be allowed to travel on the bus with the team as we have room for approximately 30 extra people other than the team. All passengers will be required to pay $1 each for transportation. Since this travelling will be done during normal lunch times, we feel the best solution would be for passengers to bring light packed lunch es. Come out and support our swim team. "The Queen and Her Maids" Fastball Show - The 4-member Junior Fastball Team from California, U. S.A., will be in Terrace Bay this Friday, August 2nd, for a game at 7 p.m. at the Separate School ball diamond. They will be playing 4 innings a- gainst a Terrace Bay ladies' all-star team, approxi- mately 2 innings against a boys' all-star team, and we hope 1 inning against a men's all-star team. This team is considered to be the world's champion 4-girl fastball team, ranging in age from 10 to 15 years. Terrace Bay teams will consist of 9 players each. There will be a pitching demonstration prior to game time. Queen Rosie, 15 year old pitcher, will pitch blindfolded, from second base and.while | kneeling. She will also pay anyone in the audience $5.00 if they can hit a fair ball from any one of three pitches she will throw to them. Let's give these people a warm Terrace Bay wel- come. So come out and see the show - it's well worth your time and money. Roller Skating - We hope that roller skating in the arena will start during the first week in September. Junior Hockey Coach and Manager Wanted - If you are interested, please call the Recreation Office - 3542. Teen Dance - On Tuesday evening, August 6th, at 8.30 p.m. in the arena, there will be a Teen dance featuring THE CRYSTAL SHIP, an American band 8
