Council also dis- cussed putting a railing along the walkway on the east side of the Municipal Building. It has been brought to Councils' attention that children are rid- ing their bicycles down this walkway, and this pre- sents the hazard of running into on-coming traffic behind the shopping area. A special meeting of Council had been called to accept the formal order approving the project and authorizing issuance of debentures for the new exten sion on the High School. It is to be expected that we shall soon see construction started on the proposed extension. Ray Kenney Honored at Social - cont'd from pg 8 Among the guests at the head table were members of the Kenney family, and long time friends of the Kenneys; Mr. and Mrs. B. Wray from Chippiwa Falls Wisc. Mr. Hale did a little reminiscing about Ray's early days in Rossport, before he came to make his home in Terrace Bay. Reeve Cavanaugh brought greetings from the Town Council and the residents of this area. Mr. G.S. O'Brien, Area Superintendant of schools spoke a few words of his association with Mr. Kenne over the past six years, and said that it had been a privilege to know him. On behalf of St. Martin's Parish, Mr. Ed McAdam a teacher at the school, stated that Mr. Kenney would be missed, not only in the school, but also as a devoted member of the Church and the communi ty. A purse was presented to Ray by Frank Sechesky, with the best wishes of everyone in Terrace Bay and the district for a happy retirement. A gift of luggage was presented to Ray, from the School Board, by Mrs. F. Helmink, Chairman. A matching piece of luggage was given to Mrs. Kenney because as Mrs. Helmink stated, behind every good man is a good wife. Mr. Rolly Sinotte, of St. Edwards Council, Knights of Columbus, presented a farewell gift. Mrs. Rita McBride presented a gift to Mrs. Kenney from the Catholic Women's League, of which she had been a faithful member. TERRACE BAY NEWS JUNE 20, 1968 Several telegrams were tead, from those who were unable to attend, one of these being from Dean E. A. Gallagher, fromer Parish Priest of Terrace Bay. Mr. Kenney, in response, said that the past six- teen years had been among the happiest he had spent in his forty years of teaching. He was grateful for the lovely gifts bestowed upon him and his wife, but said he was even more grateful for the friendship he had made over the years, and for those who had come to honor him. A cold plate was served by members of the C.W.L Dancing was enjoyed, to the music of George Churney and Sax Lundberg. sepium Fe RECREATION BRIEFS - by David Courtemanche Lacrosse Clinic - A Lacrosse clinic will be held this Saturday, June 22nd, starting at 9 a.m... This will be restricted to adults and boys and girls 14 years of age and over. The purpose of the clinic is to ac- quaint people with the game so that they are able to give some assistance with the Lacrosse programme which will be conducted this summer and fall. Fur- ther information is contained in the flyers which are posted on various bulletin boards around town. If you are interested, come.out and learn about this game, which is proving of great interest to the boys and girls of Terrace Bay.
