John or "Pop! as ne is known to a few, keeps a constant vigil at our crossing over the C.P.R. tracks. "Pop" is out in 211 kinds of weather but he never shirks his duty for his own comfort as he watches out for the safety of those who use the crossing. His never-failing smile and happy greeting every time you cross the tracks makes you appreciate this man for more than the protection which his presence affords. We are happy to say that since John his held this all-important pest, no accidents have occurred at the crossing. We feel sure that this record will be maintained wi vile you are on duty "Pop" and therefore we thank you for a job well done and wish you continue ad suceess in the future, Te those who use the crossing we would just like to note "When John signals STOP he means ite =O00- WOODLaNDS LOG by Len Christianson There are plenty of signs of spring in the woods regardless of cold weather, Small flocks of geese and many ducks have been seen on the Aquasabon River which is open and free f ice. The inland lakes have been frozen over so the ducks and geese have been forced to fand on running lation The rise und fall of the temperature in the past month has bothered the hawks: Willie Heinrich saw some hawks fly up to a smoldering fire one frosty morning to get warm, When the inen came along, whe hawks flew away but returned to the fire when the men left. Usually hawks are afraid of fire -- maybe they are becoming domesticated. Eo The Hydro Rosd tc camps up the river is in need of considerable maintenance. Frost is coming out of the ground and small strenms are becoming big streams. It's no place for light trucks at the present time,
