In the four years I've spent outside SJAM waiting to pick up my daughter and her friends after school, I'm surprised to have never wit- nessed any kind of conflict between students despite their tremendous diversity, I told Chard. "Bullying is seen as wrong, very uncool, and lame," he said. "Of course, there are iso- lated incidents, but this gen- eration is the best at treating each other respectfully and without judgement - a kind cohort who let people be who they are." Chard added, "They are kind, genuine, and intelli- gent, a pleasure to work with and the kind of students that thank you for the lesson af- ter class. We are in good hands with this generation." These students will be the first cohort in many years to not commemorate their achievements with a formal graduation ceremony. But school is really about the day-by-day, year-by- year learning and growth that helps young people real- ize their incredible potential. Although we can't ap- plaud our graduates at an in- person ceremony, they've earned our kudos for perse- vering and excelling under very unusual circumstanc- es. Congratulations to all.
