December 18, 1936 - February 1, 2021 ------------------ It's with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stuart Henry Thomas Cumming at age 84 on Monday, February 1, at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, after fighting to recover from a stroke five weeks earlier. He was surrounded by his loved ones at the time. Stuart was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1936 to Ada and Alvin Cumming. With his wife Joyce Cumming, he moved to Oakville, Ontario in 1970 and lived there for 50 years. He was predeceased by Joyce, his wife of 33 years, in 1995. Stuart is survived by his two children, Roderick Cumming and Shauna Cook, son-in-law Blair Cook, grand-daughters Sydney and Robin, and his loving partner for the past 17 years, Elaine Hindmarch. Stu will be greatly missed by his extended family of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends, including those in the consumer electronics field, in which he worked for most of his career as a successful business owner. Stu was a generous, warm and thoughtful man, who loved a good conversation and befriended everyone he met. He had a great sense of humour, a love of all sports - especially golf - and an easy- going, selfless good nature about him that drew people in. Mostly, he loved spending time with his family and good friends. While beautiful memories of Stuart are many, his family has particularly fond recollections of recent trips to Europe and the Caribbean, and backyard pool parties in Oakville. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. A celebration of Stu's life will be held later in 2021, when it is safe to do so. In the meantime the family wishes to thank the wonderful nursing staff, virtual visit team, and doctors at OTMH for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Oakville Hospital Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada on his behalf.
