To view the full obituary and leave an online condolence please visit www.glenoaks.ca KING, Ethel Louise (nee Morgan) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ Ethel Louise King (nee Morgan) died peacefully, December 23, 2020, at Sunrise of Burlington, she was in her 98th year. Her daughters, Joan and Shirley were at her side. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Morgan, Harrison and Elizabeth King-McBain, and son-in-law, Arthur Olson. Ethel was predeceased by her husband, George, in 2010 and was the last surviving sibling in her family. Ethel (Essie) and George were longtime residents of Oakville, having moved from their birthplace, Truro, Nova Scotia, in 1951 for new opportunities post war; George began building houses in both East and West Oakville, and Essie helped support her family working as a hairdresser. Essie made lasting friendships in the growing Oakville community, but never forgot her heritage and memorable experiences growing up in the Maritimes. One could see, Truro was home and a special place. She was a proud Canadian, and was especially proud of her husband, George's service during WWII. Well known for her charm and wit, Essie was a welcome presence in every room she entered. As Mom and Nana, she has passed on her gifts of humour and humility, both essential teachings and will be held in high esteem for her unwavering optimistic attitude, as she moved through life's changing circumstances. Her family will be eternally grateful for the dedicated care and friendships that surroun- ded her at Sunrise Living. Essie's cremated remains will be interred with George, in Truro, Nova Scotia, when travel permits. Welcome Home, Essie. WILLS, Ray December 20, 1951 - October 23, 2020 ------------------ Ray died as he lived, on his own terms. With multiple medical issues increasing, he unfortunately decided to take his own life. He is now reunited with family he lost throughout his sixty- eight years on earth and his beloved Boxer, Charlie. Ray leaves behind his wife Helen, sons Michael and Christopher, and loyal dog, Buddy. Cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Oakville and Milton Humane Society, 445 Cornwall Rd, Oakville, ON L6J 7S8 or to CAMH at CAMH.ca ABBS, Anne Sybil (nee Harmer) ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ It is with sadness that we share the news of our mother's death, Anne Sybil Abbs (nee Harmer), who passed away peacefully at Hillcrest Village Care Centre, in Midland, on January 17, 2021, at age 88. Our family finds comfort in her passing as she battled severe dementia for the past few years. Sybil outlived her devoted husband, Lawrence who passed in 2006, after 56 years of marriage. She is survived by her loving family Cathy (Mike) Dytnerski, Debbie (Mike) Wig, Sally (Gus) McMillan, Patti (Larry) Miller, Linda (Steve) Cummer, and Ted Abbs, along with 18 grandkids and 20.5 great- grandkids, as well as an older brother, Alan Harmer (Isabelle) of Burlington. Both the Abbs family and the Harmer family were founding figures in the community of Clarkson, Ontario (now Mississauga) with the Abbs flower business, Clargreen Gardens, being a landmark on Southdown Road for over 80 years. Sybil and Lawrence were active members of their community and also spent their recreational time cottaging on Sparrow Lake, and later on Gloucester Pool. A private family service will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home in Oakville and Mom will eventually join Dad in Springcreek Cemetery in Clarkson. We hope to celebrate mom's life with more family and friends at a later date. Thank-you to the very special staff at Hillcrest who kept Mom safe during these recent difficult times. If you wish to make a charitable donation, the family suggests the Alzheimer Society of Ontario.
