On June 30, shortly after 10 p.m., a Halton Regional Police of- ficer attended the area of Garth Webb Secondary School to inves- tigate a driving complaint. Police report that during the traffic stop, the driver exited the vehicle and advanced toward the officer while holding a knife. The officer ordered the driver to drop the weapon, and he com- plied. Further investigation of the vehicle found several knives, both in the vehicle and on the driver. The driver was also deter- mined to be under the influence of alcohol. TRAFFIC STOP TURNS UP ASSAULT AND IMPAIRED CHARGES BRYAN MYERS bmyers@metroland.com CRIME The sentencing hearing for an Oakville youth convicted of man- slaughter in connection with the 2018 shooting death of Keegan Parkinson has been postponed until Aug. 4. A second youth, found not guilty of manslaughter, but con- victed of weapons related offenc- es, is expected to be sentenced Aug. 20. Parkinson was shot and killed in an apparent accidental shoot- ing at an Oakville residence. The youths cannot be identi- fied because both were 17 years old at the time of the shooting. The adjournments were an- nounced this morning during an audio conference call from the Milton Ontario Court of Justice.
