Both financial and gro- cery donations are needed to meet the needs of the more than 400 families, comprising over 1,350 indi- viduals, whom we support on a monthly basis. The number of families and in- dividuals we serve each month has increased by about 25 per cent over the past five years. Financial donations are needed to offset rising food costs and to provide for the higher numbers of those in need in our area. Your fi- nancial donations are used to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables, chicken, meat and fish, along with items such as milk, eggs and margarine, and items that provide individuals and families with other healthy and fresh options. Financial donations can be made online at oak- villefoodbank.com, or mailed or dropped off to Fare Share Food Bank at 1240 Speers Rd., #6, Oak- ville L6L 2X4. A tax receipt will be provided. For grocery donations, the food bank is in desper- ate need of canned meat and fish, canned pasta (ravioli, etc.), jam, coffee, tea, crackers, cold cereal, size 6 diapers, powdered baby formula, rice, cookies and pancake mix (com- plete). Items not needed at this time include protein beans, dry pasta, oatmeal, tuna and small soups. Food items can be dropped off at any grocery store collection bin in Oak- ville, any fire station, or di- rectly to the food bank. We encourage you to hold your own personal food drive at your school, church, business or com- munity centre. We can help with ideas, bins and signs. Please call the food bank at 905-847-3988 and ask for Jennifer Russell. To schedule a drop-off time for large collections, please call the food bank at 905-847-3988 and ask for Jennifer.
