B NEWS PIZZA PLACE A LABOUR OF LOVE FOR THIS FAMILY PIZZA 360 SERVES SPECIALTY PIZZAS ia BAMBANG SADEWO bsadewo@metroland.com For two brothers with . ho previous background in the restaurant business, one in IT and the other journalism, the beginning of their pizzeria journey didn't quite pan out as planned. A construction issue, where their contractor ended up abandoning the work less than halfway done, delayed the opening of the restaurant by four months. They had to learn on the fly to complete most of the work themselves. "It was hell," said Junaid Qureshi, one half of Pizza 360 owners, of the ordeal that had also drained their savings. "I don't want any- body else to go through what we've been through." We've got a newsletter for that. Bambang Sadewo/Torstar Junaid Qureshi, one the owners of Pizza 360, says the restaurant's name and logo represents their hope to provide customers with "the whole experience of a pizza." The hardship motivated them even more to succeed. After the initial struggle, they have been able to grow the business organically. "It's been long hours, yes. But I don't mind hard work," said Qureshi, add- ing that other family mem- bers often help out as well. ~ "It's a family business in the true sense of the word." It serves a variety of unique offerings, including Tan- doori chicken pizza. Qureshi, who some- times does double-duty and wears the chef's hat, or in this case the apron, says it's one of their top sellers. In the kitchen, as he pre- pared a customer's order of the pizza by marinating cooked chicken - white meat and never frozen - with homemade Tandoori sauce that his brother Saad Qureshi came up with, he explained that they make their own dough "fresh in store" and "cut our own fresh veggies." Then there's the 100 per cent mozzarella cheese and regular toppings, such as olives, banana peppers, 'roasted red peppers, fresh mushrooms, red onions, and more. A "360 swirl" of the tangy sauce and a brush of butter completed the pizza. Of the many customers that he has gotten to know, including their names and how they prefer their piz- zas - thin or thick crusts, crispy on the bottom, or other personalization - Qu- reshi says some of them are their neighbours. "Milton is great about supporting local business," he said. "If you have a good enough product, they'd rather support you than go outside of Milton." Beyond providing a good custemer service, they strive to create a wel- coming atmosphere in the store, as well as giving back to the community.
