FEWER WARDS MEANS MORE CONSTITUENTS FOR TOWN COUNCIL CANDIDATES TIM WHITNELL twhitnell@metroland,com The reorganization of boundaries in Milton has re- sulted in cutting the number of wards to four from eight in the municipal election Oct. 22. Instead of a mayor and 10 ward councillors, two of which are also Halton re- gional councillors, Milton residents will be voting for a mayor, four councillors who will focus on regional mat- 'ters and four councillors who will focus on ward/ ) town issues. Ward 1 covers the north west of Miltgn, taking in much of the town's rural ar- ea. Its boundaries are Era- mosa Town Line/Hwy. 7 to the north, Nassagaweya Puslinch Towa Line to the west, Nassagaweya/Es- quesing Town Liné, Derry Road to the south, and parts south of 5 Side Road and west of Regional Road 25 on the eastern border. Ward 2 covers the town's northeast and is bounded by Regional Road 25 to the west, Derry Road to the south, Town of Milton Ward System QQ. Ward 4 covers the town's southwest and is bounded by Derry Road to the north, Regional Road 25 to the east, 1 Side Road and Burnham- thorpe Road West to the south and Bell School Line to the west. As far as political sent races, Milton Mayor Gord Krantz must best two others in the October municipal election if he hopes to con- tinue his 38-year reign. He officially became the longest-serving mayor in Ontario of a major Canadi- an municipality in-2016. Also vying for the town's top elected position are Wa- sim Ahmed and Mian Amir Naeem. Looking for his fourth term on Halton regional council, Gary Carr will have to defend his chair seat against Anne Marsden.
