This tradition is instilled in the Blue Devils U8 teams and is carried to the Leaguel level. With the rising prominence of soccer academies in Ontario and in turn the popularity of soccer in Canada, the Blue Devils offer something that sets them apart from soccer academies and clubs alike. The Oakville Blue Devils offer a com- plete player pathway from the U8 level to the Leaguel Ontario level, which will soon serve as a feeder league for the Canadian Premier League. The Academy prides itself on developing players from the grassroots.level and working with them to improve and hone their skills. The Academy runs year round, playing in both the OASL pilot league during the outdoor season and Hershey League for Advertorial Soccer club looking for the next Blue Devil the indoor season. In addition to a strong development program, the Blue Devils also offer men- toring sessions between the Leaguel players, and Academy players. Leaguel players work with younger players within FALL REGISTRATION the academy to improve their knowledge and understanding of the game while also working on important skills. This important relationship not only provides role models for the academy but also helps provide both academy players and their parents with a visual understand ing of the player pathway the academy offers. More importantly than simply develop- ing players are the educational opportu- nities the Blue Devils offer through the years of connections formed and main- tained by the Senior Technical staff. The numbers speak for themselves with 87 per cent of players coached and devel oped by the Senior Technical staff receiv- ing postsecondary education scholar- ships to the United States.
