Shepperda presided at the meeting on Wednesday, evening, and explained the purpose of the meeting. Several of the 1'atepayers’e.\'vpre;sed their opinions on the question of anâ€" nexation, etc., and then Dr. Melnnis, Mavot of Timmins, and â€"Councillor L. S, Newton were"called upon and exâ€" plained the attitude of the Town in the matter. BDr. Melnanis explained that the Town of Timmins was natuâ€" rally anxious wfadd Mattagami to the municipality â€" "For savBral â€"reasons, chiefly for reasons of controlling the dangers of fire and health menaces. The logical destiny of Mattagami was as an integral part of the FTown . On the other hand, the Townâ€"was in a finâ€" ancial eondition that made it uttferly impossible for Timmins to promise water or sewerage service or other exâ€" pensive works to new jparts of the town at any very early date. After hearing the Addresses of the Mayor and Councillor Newton, as well as several pointed speeches from ratepayers present, a wote was taken on the question before the house, and every ratepayer present voted in faâ€" vour of ‘being annexed to the Town of Timmings. f }Ir. H. G. Mathewson, for the past ten years ~â€"manager of the Cobalt Branch of the Bank of Commerce, has been transferred to Dundas, Ont., and so has found it necessary to resign as VicesPresident of <the Temiskaming and _ Northérn Ontario _ Associated Boards of Trade. A new Viceâ€"Preâ€" sident for the Associated Boards will be elected at the next meeting of that body which will be held in Timmins in the course of the next few weeks. VICEâ€"PRES. OF A§SOUCIATED ) BOARDS LEAVING DISTRICT The removal « of «Mr. Mathewson from the district, is a distinet loss, as he was both able and publieâ€"spirited and the district benefitted in many ways from his keen insight and busiâ€" ness ability. In Cobalt he ‘has been one of the effective workers in th€ Board of Trade of that town, always being active in advancing the interâ€" ests of the community.. He has very efficiently occupied the positia@ of President of the Cobalt Board ‘of Trade. Mr. Mathewson has been very active and helpful also in the worke of the Associated Boards of Trade and a valued attendant at practically all the meetings of that body. The Asâ€" sociated Boards of Trade inâ€"the cireuâ€" lar letter sent out in regard toâ€"the reâ€" siznation of the Viceâ€"President very fittingly says:â€" Mr. Mathewson will be greatly missed at the Board meetâ€" ings, where he fas always taken g very great interest in all branches of our work." & The next regular meeting of the Town Council is scheduled for Monâ€" day afternoon next, Feb. 27th. ‘"HIS MASTERS VOICE" F.
