J. Kennedy a majority of 257 over Mr. MceEachren and 422 over the other Anous. f The sheriff came up last week from Hull, Que., and returned accompanied by Amie Antoine, the latter to stand trial on a charge of perjury in conâ€" nection with a recent case at Hull. The eontrol of the V.N.T. will reâ€" main, as at present, in the hands of the Associated Gold [Mines of Western Australia, with headquarters in Lonâ€" don, England. ‘The money from the sale of treasury stock, however, will mean a reâ€"opening of the property, at once and the carrying on of exploraâ€" tion and development work on a good scale. Accordingly there will be a general hope that the shareholders will endorse the opinion of the direcâ€" tors and everything go along without a hitch. & The directors of the Poreupine V. N.T., at their meeting in Toronto on Thursday last, approved the plan to sell 475,000 shares of the treasury stock to a Toronto syndicate. The price for this stock is understood to be«15 cents per share. This sale of sitck will provide ample capital for the early reâ€"opening of the mine and the resuming of milling operations. The proposal seems to meet with genâ€" eral favour, and is looked upon as a very promising matter for the Porâ€" cupine Camp. The news that the dirâ€" ectors of the V.N.T. had formally apâ€" proved the sale of the treasury stock V.M.T. BIRECTORS APPROVE SALF DF TREASURY STOGK Toronto Syndicats Interested. Mine Likely to be Reâ€"Opened Soon. Shareholders to Meet Shortly. At the annual meeting of the N.O. H.A. some weeks ago at North Bay there was an agitation by some, notâ€" ably the Canadian ‘‘Soo,‘‘ to secure permissicn for the Michigan Soo to play with the N.O.H.A. There was much opposition to this, the Sudbury team being especially opposed. Eventâ€" ually, however, the N.O.H.A. meeting by a majority of only one vote possed la resolution asking the O.H.A. to perâ€" Imit the playing of the (Michigan Soo with the N.O.H.A. _ One of the partiâ€" cular ohjections made against the idsa of this resolution was that the O.H.A. having jurisdiction only in this Proâ€" vince could have no control or authoâ€" rity with the players from Michigan, and so it was not believed that the . Premier Drury announced early in the Dominion Election campaign that so far as he was concerned no ‘‘public servants‘‘ would be allowed to take part in the battle. Hon. Raney, the Attorneyâ€"General, and Hon. Beniah, the Minister of Lands and Forests have ‘both been stumpâ€"speaking for Dominion candidates. That‘s all right! None of the members of the Ontario Government are serving the public. The public will understand. change the terms of your" affiliation with the OH.A. so as to allow of the inclusion of Michigan ‘‘Soo"‘ in your Association. ([The jurlisdiction of the O.H.A. is confined to Canadian terâ€" ritory and does not permit of the inâ€" clusion of United States territory. Sincerely yours, W. A. HEWITT, Secretary."* This ought to settle the matter for good and all. It is nmnot reasonable to include in a league clubs over whose players the authorities have no jurisâ€" diction or control, and in this partiâ€" cular case the authorities have no juâ€" risdiction nor can they be given any. H.A. would entertain the application for the Soo to play in an ‘Ontario League. . This was the attitude taken by the O.H.A. as will be seen by the following letter received last week by Mr. H. P. Charlton, secretary of the Northern Ontario Hockey ~Associaâ€" tion. This letter reads :â€" ‘‘Dear Sir:â€"I have been instructâ€" ed by the Executive Commlittee to inâ€" form you that the O.
