Last year, 5201 cans were collected but this year KCI students and staff donated an amazing 6,389 cans. That‘s 23 per cent more than last year and a new record for KCI. Everyone had an added incentive to give this year because Mr. Feiler promised to cut off his beloved mustache after 5,000 cans had been donated and Mr. Grondin pledged to donate his hair if we could double last year‘s total. Rodney Raider disâ€" played his tonsorial skills on Mr. Feiler but we will have to wait until next year to see how Mr. Grondin looks when bald. Rumor has it that some other schools were imitating KCI‘s canned food drive and actually had delusions of being able to beat our total. No one was very concerned about this possibility and it seems to us that a few egos were a bit too puffed up. KCI‘s chess team won its third straight match last week, beating the only other undefeated team in the league. It looks as though chances of KCI repeating their past success are good and the team won‘t be happy with anything below last year‘s second place Locker Takk o o ty hk t T ie Haty com 1 ty ue zk M Waterioo collegiate institute students showed their amazing Christmas spirit this week by donatâ€" ing food and toys to those who are less fortunate. For the House of Friendship (top), students donated 6,163 nonâ€"perishable food items like macaroni and cheese, which D‘Ari Pouyat (left) and Amy McCutcheon helped to stack. And stuâ€" dents Joanna Weis (left) and Martha Linkletter organized a drive which provided toys (below) for 60 local children. finish in Ontario. The junior girls volleyball team was also victorious in their match against Glenview Park. The bantam boys basketball team won one game and lost another against Bluevale and Galt respectively. Their record is now 5â€"1 and few schools can claim such success in their younger teams as KCI has had ty "" h e .
