Wednesday, April 21, 1999 THH OAK.V1LLH BEAVER U3 G O L F G U I D E 9 9 Welcome to Oakville Golf. 4 iW T'w? ADVERTISING FEATURE 'elcome to Oakville Golf!" is always what you hear when you step through the doors at Oakville Golf. Since opening day in May of '98, owners Joe Lavery and Jim Gayler have satisfied hun dreds of customers with great service and friendly service. 'The top goal in the club building business is to make sure all of our customers walk away happy and return every time they need any other golf equipment," said Lavery. The partners each originally started as a home-based golf repair business, one in Stoney Creek, and the other in Oakville. "We decided to combine our efforts," added Gayler. "Now we have a business doing what we truly enjoy." Although they specialize in custom club building and fitting, Oakville Golf also carries a selection of bags and various golf accessories. If you don't see what you're looking for on the shelves, it doesn't mean they don't have it. Just ask one of the staff--they're always happy to make a special order to ensure they carry all the products golfers want and need. Keeping up with the trends of the industry, Oakville Golf also has the latest in 'golf technology.' "We built our store with a putting green and a swing analyzer, so you can try any club right in the store," said Lavery. "If you like it, sign it out and try it on a golf course. Or better yet... take it next door to our indoor centre." They have three indoor simulators to use. Each sim ulator has seven courses to play and a driving range as well as an analyzer is available. Demo clubs are available for use or bring in your own clubs. Oakville Golf is fully licensed and carries light snacks on sight for the enjoyment of their customers. "Our business has been built on customers returning and our policy to make sure they want to return," said Gayler. "We're not just a golf store, we're also golf nuts!" Cruise on over to Oakville Golf and check out the merchandise (right) or the golf simulator (below). Oakville Golf specializes in cus tom club building and fitting. Golf Clearance Warehouse scores another hole-in-one ADVERTISING FEATURE It began a year ago as a modest golf liqui dation outlet located in the commercial heart of Markham. Now, just a year later, Golf Clearance Warehouse Inc. has expanded its concept of discount golf merchandise and recycled golf balls to three more locations across the GTA. "We thought our idea to open a golf clear ance centre in Oakville was a good one," explains Murray Dempsey, manager of the Oakville Golf Clearance Warehouse and Oakville resident. "So far, business has been brisk, and as the weather improves we anticipate it will get even busier." Dempsey is proud to be part of the growing success of the Golf Clearance Warehouse chain of permanent discount outlets, particalarly the company's com mitment to customer satisfaction and its community involvement. "We feel that it's important to give something back to the community," says Dempsey. "We want to be part of Oakville and that means helping out and supporting local groups and organiza tions." The Golf Clearance Warehouse is cur rently involved in a promotion which assists the local Food Bank. If customers bring in two cans of food, they pay no GST or PST on any purchases. 'The popular appeal of golf has cer tainly helped our business," adds Mr. Dempsey. "We carry a great selection of brand name golf balls, clubs and other accessories at discount prices for the beginner right up to the pro." How is the company able to pass on such big savings to customers? Owner Gary Shienfield's 25 years in the liquidation busi ness gives him a great edge when it comes to buying merchandise. He travels the world looking for bargains and is able to pass savings on directly to the consumer. Golf Clearance Warehouse Inc. also does a brisk mail order business selling recycled golf balls to consumers across North America. Shienfield is quick to point out the impor tance of working with talented staff. "We are very fortunate to have a terrific, dedicated staff who know the importance of teamwork," he adds. "When you put trust in people and allow them to shine, it's amazing what they can accomplish." The Golf Clearance Outlet in Oakville is located at 1029 Speers Road (next to Tim Horton's at Fourth Line). They can be reached at 905-845-1761.
