Canon Robert Fead • Continued from page 3 Fead was an honorary canon of Christ's Church Cathedral in Hamilton and a chaplain with the Angli can Military Ordinariate. In 2014, Fead presided at the nationally televised fu neral of Cpl. Nathan Ciril- lo, the reservist who was killed while standing guard at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. "My job was, in the midst of all that chaos and fear, was to bring some sense of hope," he told the Oakville Beaver at the time. Fead began his career as a Roman Catholic priest in 1993 in the Hamilton dio cese. He transferred to the Anglican Church in 2002 and was posted to the Niag ara Anglican diocese, which includes Hamilton and Oakville. From 2003 to 2014, Fead was the rector at St. Georg e's Anglican Church in St. Catharines. St. Jude's Bishop Mi chael Bird and Bishop- elect Susan Bell were heartbroken to share the tragic news. They have in vited the clergy and people of the diocese to pray for Fead's wife and mother, for his friends and family and colleagues, for the clergy and people of St. Jude's and for all the churches and military units where he served. In a message to the cler gy of the diocese, Bishop Bird and Bishop-elect Bell wrote: "rooted in the East er season, may the hope of the resurrection sustain us in this difficult time." Fead was also a member of the 31 Canadian Bri- grade Group, which paid tribute to their comrade. "On behalf of the entire 31 Canadian Brigade Group family, our deepest sympathies and condolenc es go out to the family and loved ones of Major the Reverend Canon Robert Fead, our dedicated and re vered Brigade Chaplain. Major Fead offered stead fast support to countless soldiers over 13 years. "His presence will be greatly missed," said Com mander Colonel Chris Poo- le.Added Lt-Colonel Peter St. Denis, Commanding Of ficer, the Argyll and Suth erland Highlanders of Can ada (Princess Louise's): "Major Fead was a proud member of The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada.
