PROVINCIAL ELECTION F ly n n o f f i c i a l l y o p e n s c a m p a ig n o f f i c e With nearly 100 sup porters on hand, Kevin Flynn officially opened his campaign office Satur day. It's located at 2330 Lake- shore Rd. W (Unit 4). "We are fighting the most important election in decades," said the long time Liberal incumbent. "We cannot risk the progress we have made. "We now have a mini mum wage that is rising to $15, a promise of free day care for children aged two- and-a-half until they start school, free tuition for a large portion of post-sec ondary students and free prescriptions for everyone under 25 with a committed expansion to serve those over 65. "These policies are helping Ontario families get ahead. He added, "I'm ho noured to be running for my fifth term as the MPP for Oakville. "I love this community and together we have ac complished so much," said Flynn. "I'm committed to once again working to deliver the best for Oakville. "You have depended on me to deliver results in the past and you can depend on me in the future. "My record of proven results - new schools, a hospital, preservation of green space - speaks for it self." First elected in 2003, Flynn has served as the minister of labour since 2014, directing sweeping updates to employment standard legislation, in cluding a $15 minimum wage. He has also served as minister of community safety and correctional services, as well as parlia mentary assistant to sev eral ministers in depart ments including transpor tation, infrastructure, ed ucation, energy, labour, democratic renewal and training, colleges and uni versities. He was previously a small-business owner and won six consecutive elec tions to serve as a regional councillor for Oakville for over 18 years. During that time he worked to protect Oak ville's green space for fu ture generations, efforts that culminated in the cre ation of the Glenorchy Conservation Area in north Oakville and earned him the Halton Conserva tion Award of Excellence.
