Milton‘s top politician was on hand sto hear the jokes at his expense, along with about 90 others at the gMihon Banquet and Conference ; Centre, where Milton Transitional Housing (MTH) hosted a comedy roast of Krantz that doubled as a gfundraiser. § Laughter rang out through the packed hall as the mayor‘s counâ€" cil colleagues, family and friends roasted the man of the hour in honour of his recent milestone as | the longestâ€"serving mayor of a maâ€" jor municipality in Canada. "They say you‘re the longest runâ€" ning mayor, but I‘ve only seen you move at a medium pace," quipped Councillior John Pollard who, as the youngest member of council, thought it would be fitting to tell "old man jokes." "I figured you would have moved to Florida by now," Pollard said to the mayor. "Don‘t let old age get you down, because you may have a hard time getting back up." The 29â€"yearâ€"old councilior noted that Krantz has 50 years on him and asked, "When you get to 80, are you going to ask for a recount?" Councilior Robert Duvaill also got in on the jokes about the mayor‘s age, jesting that a Google search of the mayor also brought up materials about the sandals of Jesus and the Dead Sea scrolls. Councilior Colin Best pointed out the mayor has outlasted 10 prime ministers and nine presidents durâ€" | ing his political tenure. | "I understand the queen is getting worried now," he said. Best also toasted Krantz‘s wife, Olâ€" ive, for "putting up with Gord."
