Big turnout for unveiling of soldier monument Time Capsules are gems of informaâ€" tion extracted from past issues of the Champion and other publications in order to provide a window into Milâ€" ton‘s past November 1921 On Monday, Thanksgiving Day, the weather was unfavorable for travelâ€" ling or outâ€"ofâ€"doors gatherings, but more than 1,000 people, many of them from outside the county, were it the unveiling of the r«onument to the Nassagaweya soldiers who fell in the Great War, erected on the site givâ€" en by David Hutcheon, County Treaâ€" surer, about a quarter of an acre on his farm at the corner of the Guelph road and the Moffat sideroad. The monument came from the works of Messrs. Cater & Worth, Gait. Its deâ€" sign is imposing and artistic. It is of Quebec granite, is 17 feet in height, ind stands on a cement base, above which are granite blocks, making two teps. Above these is a pillar on which are cut the names of 22 heroes, with ne more to be added. A statue of a Canadian soldier, standing at ease with rifle, surmounts the whole.
