Two car drivers were in court for making unnecessary and objectionable noise on street on Sunday last. They were part of a wedding party and withâ€" out thinking about others had persisted in blowing their horns all over the place. They were sorry in court for creating a nuisance, and the magistrate adjourned the ca<e until called on. Other wedding parties might well note this case, as disturbance is frequently created by this style of noisy wedding. There was, one solitary common drunk charge before the court. The fine was the usual $10.00 and costs. With a view to helping the Poppy Day fund the entertainment commitâ€" tee of the Timmins branch, Canadian Legion, decided that Armistice Day should have a fitting climax. The Holâ€" linger Recreation hall was secured and plans laid for a real oldâ€"time Armistice dance. So that the dancers can have a pilans lala Tor a real oldâ€"time Armistice dance. So that the dancers can have a good evening it is stated on the winâ€" dow cards that doors will be open at 8.00 p.m. and dancing commenced at 9 p.m., followed by 3â€"hours of fast and furious fun. All attending will receive a novelty ncisemaker, and a paper hat. At a given time these will be let loose and with hundreds of streamers, etc., to ‘d to the fun, all attending are assurâ€" ea ~of a big night. Those in attendance at ie Legion Hallowe‘en Frolic spoke so hishly of the music of Stephens‘ Snappy Syncapators, that the commitâ€" Messrs Dean Kester, Dr. G. F. At police court on Tuesâ€" day a man who used abusive language on street was fined $50.00 and costs, a total of $68.50. There would have to be a lot of relief to tl}e feelings in abuâ€" sive language to be worth that much. The fine was imposed on a Lake Shore road resident under a charge laid under a town byâ€"law prohibiting the use of abusive language and other forms of rowdvism on street. Ben Cossette, of Mountjoy township, was committed for trial before a judge and jury on a charge of assault. He is charged with striking Allen Macleod with a bottle, breaking the latter‘s nose and cutting him on the face and head. It is said that MacLeod will be disfigâ€" ured for life as a result of the use of the bottle in this way. The trouble is stated to have occurred at a barn dance in the country. Omar Decaire, 1 Birch street north, upstairs, was charged with illegally having liquor. It cost him $100.00 and costs, because he paid forthwith. A Mountjoy assault charge was disâ€" missed and another assault charge withdrawn. Peter Powers, who was arrested last week after his car had struck a taxi and also a parked car on Wilson avenâ€" ue, all three cars being badly damaged, was found guilty of being drunk in charge of a car and sentenced to ten days at Haileybury. Mike Nicolichuk, whose address was given as 211 Maple street north, was charged with vagrancy. He had been found iposting bills on telephone or power poles late at nignt and could not give a satisfactory explanation of his actions. He was allowed out on his own bail but failed to appear on Tuesâ€" day for the trial. The case was reâ€" manded for a week. One man was fined $10.00 and costs for speeding. Lots of Pep, Music, Etc., at Legion Armistice Dance Mike Hauto or Luoma, 21 First avenâ€" ue, was before the court on the charge of permitting drunkenness on premises occupied by him. The police visited his place and found several intoxicated persons but not enough evidence to lay any other charge against him. He was fined $100.00 and costs, or three months. It appears as if he would take the three months. Another man, Chas. Aistrop, 1 Balâ€" sam street, was also asked for $100,.00 and costs or three months for illegally having liquor.
