THURSDAY. AUGUS Mcintyre Tennis Players Lose Round to Kapuskasing Some ported the Intyre and Schumacher The followit bune of Ka event at K Kapuskasing Tennis Club members were hosts to visitors from the McInâ€" Intyre Tennis Club of Schumacher on Sunday, Aug. 20th. Playing conditions were anything but ideal during the day, as it was quite cool in the morning, and although much warmer in the afterâ€" noon the players were hampered by high wind. Sixteen members of the McIntyre Club were here for the day, but unfortunately some of their best players were unable to make the trip, which explains the oneâ€"sided score. The club wishes to thank the spectaâ€" tors who watched the games for their interest and to assure them that their presence at the courts during the visit of another club is appreciated. On Saturday evening the Tennis Club held a dance in the dining room of the Club for the visiting players. The music was provided by Fred Serâ€" vice and his orchestra, who succeeded in making an entertaining evening for all present. Yourg Man Named Martin Dies in Motor Accident Through Tire Blowâ€" ing Out. Was Coming to Timâ€" mins Seeking Work,. A young man named Martin, whose home is not known, was killed near Mathescon yesterday afternoon when one of the front tires of the car in which he was riding had a blowâ€"out, and the car took the ditch. The car <oncéerned in the accident was owned by Wm. Boychuk, of Timmins, and driven by James Gardiner, also of Timâ€" mins. Mr. Gardiner picked up the young man on the road and was giving him a ride to Timmins where he said he hoped to secure work at his trade as a barber. Just near Matheson, howâ€" ever, the accident occurred and the fortimate passenger met his death. Word regarding the death was reâ€" | ceived here yesterday afternoon shortâ€"| ly after the tragedy occurred, but few details are to hand. Provincial Officer McCord phoned to Timmins shortly after the accident to see if anyone here knew the young man, Martin, or could give any information about him. No one here knew him so far as could be learned. The young man had a letter | in his pocket for presentation on his arrival here. The letter was signed by the name "Fetterly," and was adâ€" dressed to Pat Nolan, Timmins. In the letter Mr. Nolan was asked to do all he could to help Martin secure a posiâ€" tion. The police here got in touch with Mr. Nolar and found that he did not know MMartin nor had he heard | from him. The only Fetterly he knew was an engineer in Cochrane. It is not considered likely that the letter of â€"recommendation came from any Cochrane citizen. Martin was travelâ€" ling to the North intending to try his luck in Timmins, Had he friends in Cochrane it is likely that he would have planned to go there rather than take a long chance here. However, the police are seeking to discover any relaâ€" tive or close friend who may be able to give particulars in regard to Martin.
