They were seen off at Unâ€" ion Station by Ald. George Sloan and Nelson Ogilvie, member and secretary of the local committee coâ€"operating with the province in the backâ€"toâ€"theâ€" land4 movement. After about 10 days or â€"two weeks in the North, where a Government agent will assist them, the men are expected to have a house ready, and their families will be sent on to them." T. H. Torrance, of Timmins, proudly displayed a sealer full of fine big wellâ€" ripened strawberries on Monday of this week. He had picked them outside on Sunday, Oct. 9th, while visiting R. Smith in Shaw township. Mr. Torâ€" rance intended to pick more on Monâ€" day, for there were heaps of fine strawâ€" serries there, but in the meantime the snowfall made considerable difference. Mr. Smith planted the strawberry plants at his place in Shaw township a couple of years ago and they have come along in remarkable way. This year they were a great crop and. the berâ€" ries were remarkable for size and flaâ€" vour. The crop that ripened last week were: beauties, big and well flavoured, and for strawberries grown in the North on Oct. 9th are specially worthy of note. There should be further inâ€" terest in these fine strawberries in view of the fact that they were grown in Shaw township, which is not as thickly settled yet, as some other parts of the Porcupine camp, but where there are some gardens worthy of note.
