This dollar bill, though lost, was found, and never left the Legris family. Mrs. Charles Legris was shopping in Cobalt store when she dropped a dolâ€" lar bill on the floor. Noticing her loss she notified the manager and was courâ€" teously informed that if and when the bill was found it would be promptly returned to her. After she had left the store her son, Roady Legris went into the store to do some shcpping for himself{ and he spied a dollar bill lying on the floor. He picked it up and took the money to the manager of the store., The manager thanked him and samts that a lady had reported the loss of a dollar bill just a few minutes before. When the lady‘s name was mentioned the young man found it was his cwn mother, so the dollar did not leave the possession of the family, though lost for a few minutes. This should be another Scottish story, the only thingz being against that is the name of the family which is not altogether Scottish, though all the cther cireumstances seem Scottish enough, though hsnestly now did anyone ever hear about any Scotâ€" tish person losing a dollar anywhere at any time? According to word from Cobalt this week the suggestion is being advanced in Cobalt that a weekly half holiday might be observed by merchants throughout the year, and not only in the months of May to September, inâ€" clusive, as at present. Some of the grocers are taking up the matter are circulating a petition amonz themâ€" selves, the intention being, it is stated, to ask the town council to pass a byâ€"law provided the necessary numper of signâ€" atures can be obtained. If a stated proportion of the merchants sign, counâ€" cil has no option but to grant the reâ€" quest for civic legislation. It is reportâ€" ed the idea may spread to other storeâ€" keepers in CObalt. It is worth noting that â€"the grocery and meat stores, as well as the barber shops, in Timmins, have been following out this plan of a yearâ€"round half holiday and there has been no appreciable inconvenience to the public or loss to the merchants. In fact it looks to be the other way about. It was thought that other lines of business would follow suit to the general advantage, but has not occured, some of the stores being opposâ€" ed to such action. If Cobalt shows the way the example may be followed here. STILL THE NAME DOES NOT SOUND ALTOGETHER SCOTCH Total m Advance win 3 points. Five men were successful in getting on the ,honour roll:â€"C.
