Lancashire Club Timmins L.O.L. SECOND SECTION FRED JOHNSON, W.P. H. COOK, REGISTRAR President No. 1815. P. J. BEAUDIN, Financialâ€"Secretary. Ruby Sullivan Rec. See In the report last week of the matech between the Mcelntyre and Lake Shore teams in the Ontario ecup series, Rhodes was credited with scoring from a penalty. _ This goal should have been credited to Simpson, the slip being due to passing confusion caused by a changeâ€"over in the lineâ€" up given the press. Present indications are that the Ferguson highway is going to attract more then the ordinary motor tourist here. In addition it would appear that means will be provided for all kinds of visitors to come here at very reasonable rates and see the country under the very best auspices and conâ€" ditions. _ According to word coming to Whe Advance last week from Toâ€" ronto a new project, which will be inâ€" augurated on Monday next, Aug. 15th, will be a series of tours by motor bus from Toronto to the mining camps of the North. It is proposed to operate as far north as Kirkland Lake on a reâ€" gular schedule over the new Ferguson highway, but the facilities of the comâ€" pany will ‘be available in order that other points may be reached which are not on the regular route. The fare quoted will include all expenses and it is believed that many persons who have never visited the mines will take advantage of the opportunity thus provided. â€" It is expected that the round trip will be made in six days. This is the information given so far, but no doubt more details will be available shortly. _ The trip should prove of unusual interest and ats popularity should be great indeed. Such a holiday might well be desceribâ€" ed as a wonderful one. As the road is open now only as far as Kirkland Lake, the big sightâ€"seeing trip can not include the visit to the gold mining district of Poreupine, or to the reâ€" markable paper mill town of Iroquois Falls. With the completion of the highway this month, however, it is more than likely that the three special centres of interest in this North,â€" Porecupine, Cochrane and Iroquois Falls,;â€"will be added to the itinerary of the buses. No man can see the North without visiting Timmins, Iroâ€" quois Falls and Cochrane. Cochrane is a typical North Land town, a railâ€" way centre, and the gateway to the James Bay. Iroquois Falls is a town of beauty and attraction, and the paper industry there is one of the. greatest on the continent so far as the: making of news paper is concerned. Poreupine is Canada‘s greatest gold camp. Timmins is not only the cenâ€" tre of a wonderful mining country, but it has also within the municipal borders the greatest individual goldâ€" producing mine in the world, the. Hollinger mine. The Melntyre, Dome and Vipond are other worldâ€"known mines that should not be overlooked, while there are dozens of other newer properties well worth attention. This part of the North also has its agriculâ€" tural sections that are sure to prove of interest to visitors. As for natural scenery, the North Land has beauty and variety that will certainly make very general appeal _A motor trip by bus or otherwise from Toronto to Cochrane and intermediate points should prove one of the greatest inâ€" terest and attraction, and just about a perfect holiday for the people. It was very evident from the start that Lake Shore intended to try and win, and they began pressing on the Mcelntyre defence which stood up well. Melntyre broke away and Barâ€" ron missed a good chance to score. McGregor cleared to Walsby who went down, passing to Fidock who shot. Parker misjudged the ball and an easy goal was chalked up for Lake Shore. Mclntyre not to be beaten came back strong and Cran made a nice run down, passing a beautiful centre to Taylor who missed the best chance of the game with only Cadâ€" man to beat. He kicked over the ball. Dougall came in only to miskick also and Mclntyre‘s chance to equalize was lost. The Lake Shore went down with a rush and were awarded a free kick for handling, which had become a icommon affair in the game both teams being penalized for this breach of ithe rules. From the kick Parker made a dandy save.~ Midfield play followed for several minutes. _. Both teams were playing hard and some geood football was witnessed. â€" Walsby Premier Baldwin is proving himself to be delightfully informal, relaxing whenever opportunity offers from the role of first Commoner of the Briâ€" tish Empire. The visit of the Prince of Wales, Prince George and the Baldwin party is providing strenuous summer activity for Premier King. Melntyre:â€"Parker, goal; Johnson and Goodman, backs; Moore, Morris and Woods, halfâ€"backs; Cran, Barâ€" ron, Taylor Dougall and Bratby, forâ€" wards. The replay of the Ontario Cup series was played here on Monday evening after the postponement of Saturday evening last. Quite a large crowd were on hand to witness this game, the weather which was dull and showery not affecting the attendance. _ The Lake Shore relied upon their original team and made no ichanges. The Melntyre made several changes in their forward line and this no doubt was the main cause of defeat, The teams were as follows :â€" Lake Shore:â€"Cadman, goal; Meâ€" (Gregor and Ramsay, backs;, Rhodes, J. Hamilton and Simpson, halfâ€"backs ; Fidock, Walsby: Parsons, A. Hamilâ€" ton and MceDonald, forwards. Kirrkland Lake Football Team Wins Championship Lake Shore Team Holders of the Gallagher Trophy. Cran for Melntyre played a great game all through but lost his effectiveness through this fault, the inside man playing most of the time out of posiâ€" tion. The Lake Shore defence also held out the Melntyre forwards and they could not get in close enough for a decent shot at goal. The Melntyre defence was also holding its own and were playing a better game than in the previous half. Towards the close of ithe game, which was slowing up McDonald came down and centred, but Parker made a splendid clearâ€" ance. Parsons missed a good chance by falling over the ball. â€" Meclntyre were a beaten team and were making changes but these did not prove to be effective as they were made too late in the game. The game came to a close with Lake Shore the winners of Gallagher Cup, the Ontario Cup repreâ€" sentatives of Northern Ontario. The total goals scored on this series by each team is: Lake Shore, 9; McInâ€" tyre 5. This includes the goal scored in last Saturday‘s game. The series has been a most exciting one and all football fans, now that the verdiet is decided, will wish the Lake Shore team the best of honours in the final game for this coveted trophy. scored the second goal for Lake Shore on a fine shot, fast and low. A. Hamilton scored the third, these two goals coming in quick succession. Mcâ€" Intyre took a turn and were awarded a penalty for hands in ithe goal area. Moore took the kick and scored. Again Cran came down and passed to Dougall who passed to Bratbhy. In clearing Ramsay handled the ball and Moore took the kick only to put it over the bar. Lake Shore, with Fiâ€" dock and Walsby in combination went down and passed to McDonald who forced a corner. Fromithe kick Walsâ€" by sceored with another fast shot. Private Wires to all Branches 67 Yonge Street Several readers of The Advance have made enquiiies recenitly as to the dates of fall fairs. Some weeks ago a fairly complete list of the various fairs of interest was published in ‘The Advance. the chief interest is in the Poreupine Fair, held at Golden City. This fair will be held this year on Sept. 14th. The growing list of North Land fairs is of general interest. _ Among those listed for the year are the following: Charlton Sept. 15th ; Clute, Sept. 21st ; Cochrane, Sept. 14th and 15th; Engleâ€" hart, Sept. 16th and 17th; Kapusâ€" kasing, Sept. 16th and 17th; Matheâ€" som Sept. 2ist; New Liskeard, Sept. 22nd ito 24th; North Bay, Sept. l14th to 16th; Poreupine (Golden City), Sept. l4th; Porquis Junction, Sept. 14th. a particularly heavy one and must have taken considerable foree to break. Youngsters on mischief bent, however, can achieve a lot, and they eventually succeeded in foreing the lock and securing entry. The chief anxiety at the Canadel was that the youngsters had carried away some of the dangerous caps or time fuse and that there might be danger of serious accident from such a cause. _ Quick and clever work, however, succeeded in tracing the youngsters and warnâ€" ing the parents of the danger, with the result that such aceidents were averted. The breaking into the store house did not cause any very serious loss, but it did create much alarm, and parents, one and all should get busy and give the necessary warning to their children to prevent a repetition of this danger. _ The case is serious enough to warrant the emphasizing of the warning with a strap if necessary. Youngsters should be made to feel that it is absolutely necessary to their comfort to keep away from explosives and other similar dangers to life and limb. Other fairs that may be of interest are: Toronto, Canadian National Exâ€" hibition, Aug. 27th to Sept. 12th; Bracebridge, Sept. 20th to 22nd; London. Sept. 10th to 17th; Ottawa Aug. 22nd to 27th; Royal Winter Fair, Toronto, Nov. 16th to 24th; (Guelph Winter Fair, Dec. 5th to 8th.
