The council of Tisdale met in the council charmbers on Monday, June 27(th, with Reeve Gallagher and all the councillors present. The greater part of the meeting was taken up with the consideration of tax cases, this being the last meeting before July lst, after which taxes for 1926 cannot in any way be legally altered. There were about the usual number of married men who ‘had not made the fact known to the proper authorities and so were assessed as single men. There were some who had been absent and some sick; all were given careful consideration and where the case warâ€" ranted it a reduction was made from the amount but in practically all the cases, the party, had to pay the costs of the‘garnishee as their attention to the matter earlier would have preventâ€" ed the necessity of issuing a garniâ€" shee. Some rather ¢omplicated cases arose over two persons having the Report of June Promotion â€" Exams. of S. S. Her husband J. Powers, was the driver of the Chrysler, while an employee of the garage where Mr. P. Richards had left his Cadillac was the other drivâ€" er. Just where the blame if any was will be settled when the court meets. Another resident of South Porcupine got a bad shaking up and a few cuts when he went to get in a car which the driver by mistake put into reverse instead of low gear. ~There were quite a number of acciâ€" dents on Sunday, the most serious probably being when a Chrysler car being dnvenngown the Rea hill jamâ€" med into a large Cadillac at the foot of the hill. It is said that the Cadilâ€" lac is not nearly so badly damaged as the Chrysler, which is at Grewcoe‘s South Porcupine, June 28th, 1927. Special to WThe Advance. Rich was present asking for sewer connection for his residence on the corner of Railroad and Golden but as these lots along here are below high water mark a system of sewerage could not properly be planâ€" ned. If an exception could be made of the corner lot was to be discussed later. MFr. J. Ireland asked for a drain so that the water would not stand under his building at Golden avenue. The routine accounts, salaries, etc., were passed for payment. As a matter of health protection it was thought that the time had now come when the residents should be made avail themselves of the sewerage system where possible. K ‘byâ€"law to enforee residents to put in proper sewerage where same is available was discussed and the solicitor is to be asked to draft form for same, and submit it to the council. A resident of Crawford street askâ€" ed that: something be done to keep down the dust menace there. This road is not tarvia and is much used by motorists, so the annoyance from dust is very considerable. The counâ€" cil agreed that something should be done, either <~the streets sprinkled regularly or calcium chloride used. . â€" Dr. Kinsman drew the attention of the council to the bad odors coming from the ditches on Moore St. This is to be remedied. Another ratepayer drew attention to the odors arising from the laneâ€"in the block east o Crawford street and between Golden and Bruce. It was pointed out that the seepage from all the higher parts of the town went down there. A byâ€"law was passed to enable the council to repair the following roads, on a fiftyâ€"fifty basis with the Provinâ€" cial Governmentâ€"â€"Dome Lake Road, Gold Centre, Davidson and Whitney. same name. â€" Especially where mail was got at the same office and the both men working in same locality had confusion arisen.
