Cochrane‘s Win Popular in Town. regular N.O.B.A. fixture here Cochâ€" rane‘s string of victories remained unâ€" broken. They won their fifth straight game, and deserved to win, though as much might be said also had Timmins won for it was anybody‘s game until the thirteenth innings. The game started off in rathér ragâ€" ged and listless manner and developâ€" ed into a pitcher‘s battle after the 3rd. innings. (GHlen Campbell on the mound for Cochrane was in trouble in the first three innings, as no less than 11 men were on bases in that time. He was lucky to esvape with only. two runs scored against him. Then he setâ€" runs scored against nim. i hen ne setâ€" tled down and plt(-hed masterly game. ‘Only five hits were gathered from his delivery after the thnd inâ€" nings. ‘The suppm’t beliind him. was «)f'the choicest \al'let\ Thacker in right field pulled~*down FParr‘s fly that was labelled for two bases. G. Campbell in left field acâ€" cepfed three chances in nice style. Dune. MeLean at short accepted seven chances and Ims throwing was about perfect. He is about cone of the best fielding short stops in the league, as 4e plays ball at all times and leaves the grandstand stuff alone. Don Camp bell at third accepted four chances nerfectIly andâ€" contributed a double d hs against his opponent‘s four. Sceully and Lake fielded in spectacuâ€" lar style, three of their catches esâ€" pecially pleasing the crowd. Destefaâ€" no also made a cireus catch and fieldâ€" ed nicely, but his periormance was marred by his prize bone in the 13th that practically lost the game. Johnâ€" ny wants to pay more attention to the ecame and less to the bush league crabâ€" bing and he will be the best shortâ€"stop in the league. He is a firstâ€"class allâ€" round ball player, and all good sports are galled to think that he may ‘be kidded into the bush league stuff. From the spectators‘ viewpoint, Wednesday‘s game was one of the best. There was so much exciting dall that the crowd forgot to care who won. ‘Cochrane boys are such good sports that their victory was a poâ€" pular one. A victory for Timimins, of course, would have been even more popular, naturally. The Timmins team is generally believed to be superior to the Cochrane boys, and perhaps the answer lies in practice. Timmins team would not suffer a bit practice together as a team. There is generally from three to five players missing practices held lately and this does not give the team its best chance. With practice and team play Timmins ean yet make them all sit up and take notice. ‘The following is the offGcial report of, Wednesday‘s game as furnished by Mr. J. N.
