The gala fundraising event, which gets underway at 7 p.m., features an art auction with proceeds supporting Dog Guide programs for physically chal lenged Canadians. Fifty limited edition reproductions, donated by Dr. Michael Ostro of Toronto, can be viewed during a cock tail reception. The reproductions, appraised at values between $250 to $1,000, are images from the likes of Chagall, Dali, Miro, and Tarkay. The Canadian artists represented include Heather Cooper, Paul Kelley and Mark Farand. The evening culminates with the auction, featuring guest auctioneer mayor Ann Mulvale. Lions Foundation of Canada has enriched the lives of more than 640 men, women and children from ages eight to 84 by providing the services of specially trained dog guides. The Foundation m anages a dog breeding facility in Breslau, Ontario and its training centre in Oakville. In total, the Foundation offers dog guides for the blind (Canine Vision Canada), the deaf or hearing impaired (Hearing Ear Dogs of Canada) and the physical ly challenged (Special Skills Dogs of Canada). The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., is being held in partnership with Sears and The Baby Store at Mapleview. On hand will be OPP officers, Trauma Prevention Council members and Red Cross volunteers to check the installation of your car seats. Anyone attending the clinic will be eligible to win a car seat courtesy of Sears. The clinic is free of charge and there will be no tickets issued for improper installation of seats.
