Rachel Van Pelt, who came to Friday's final draw of the sixth annual Great Oakville Dream Home Lottery at the Mattamy Sales Pavilion, held the cell phone high in the air as the names of the winners of the eight major prizes were drawn and announced. One of the top prizes was an allinclusive vacation for two to Beaches or Sandals resort in Jamaica (winner's choice), courtesy of Air Canada Vacations and CIBC VISA Gold. "1 brought it so my dad could hear the winners' names," said the excited lit tle girl who came to the draw with her sister, Rebecca, 11, and brother Jordon, 7, and her mom Sharon Rendell. "The five of us are going to Jamaica," said Ellwanger who rushed over to the Mattamy Glen Abbey Sales Pavilion at the comer of Dundas Street and Proudfoot Trail. The family lives nearby. "I was listening to the draw on the cell phone," said Ellwanger. "The kids had the cell phone on and I heard my name. I came right over." Thinking the cell phone was bringing the family luck, Rachel held it over the drum when the final draw was made for the $379,000, one-of-a-kind 3,350 square foot, five-bedroom Dream Home with 3.5 bathrooms at 1351 Pine Glen Road. "This is the first time in the history of the Oakville Great Dream Home Lottery that we've had a winner in the audience at the final draw," said Dan Ferrone, lottery co-chair and master of ceremonies. With about 90% of the 70,000 tickets sold, the lottery is estimated to have raised $750,000 to be shared by the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Charitable Corporation to purchase equipment; Oakville YMCA for its new building currently under construction; and Wellspring Cancer Support Foundation which provides support for people living with this disease at Wellspring Halton-Peel.
