Organized by the Oakville Community Centre for Peace, Ecology and Human Rights (OCCPEHR), An Environmental Fair for Healthy Living, Biodiversity and a Sustainable Future will be held at the Glen Abbey Community Centre, 1415 Third Line, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free, one-day environmental fair is sponsored by Conservation Halton, Halton Region Public Works, the Town of Oakville' s Environmental Policy Department, and Niagara Escarpment Views. It will feature, among other things, more than 25 educational booths, presentations, half hour workshops, yoga demonstration, various activities for children and parents including a seedling planting, making a seed bomb and more. "This community event raises greater awareness about the importance of the natural environment and encourages Halton residents to become more environmentally sustainable," stated Stephen Dankowich, show manager and OCCPEHR executive director, in a media release. "The Halton Eco-Festival is one of Ontario' s longest-running environmental fairs and it has succeeded by promoting healthy living, biodiversity and the belief in a sustainable future." Sciensational Sssnakes!! The fair will also include lecture and demonstration from Sciensational Sssnakes!!, which provides hands-on education on reptiles and amphibians. The show will feature a talk about the animals, their ecology and conservation issues, as well as an opportunity to interact, touch and hold the animals. The animals are safe, friendly and easy to handle and people are encouraged to take photos holding a snake. Eco-Jeopardy Challenge your knowledge of environmental issues and Halton Region by playing a game of Eco-Jeopardy, a re-creation of the television show. All participants receive a peace pin.
