The volunteers are the most generous, giving people that you would ever want to meet. Lynn Pike May Court Club o f Oakville Pike says the club' s focus is on women, children and seniors. Some of the charities that the club has supported over the years include: the Wellspring Birmingham Gilgan House, Reach Out Centre for Kids and the Canadian Arthritis and Rheumatism Society, to name just a few. Pike says the club has more than 240 members. Since the club is 100 per cent volunteer run, there are minimum administration fees and funds the May Court Club raises goes directly to the community. In addition to fundraisers, such as Laugh Out Loud for Kids, Pike says the May Court Club of Oakville also runs the Nearly New Shop, on 200 Kerr St. in Oakville, which celebrated 60 years of serving the community in March. Pike says more than 100 May Court Club volunteers run and work in the shop each year. Over the years, the shop has raised more than $1.5 million in net profits that directly benefit Oakville and Halton Region. "The volunteers are the most generous, giving people that you would ever want to meet," says Pike, who also sits on the May Court Club of Oakville board of directors.
