Sunday, O ctober 29, 2000 O akville Beaver W eekend 17 H allo w een Spooky etjn Cljf £9eretoolf By Matthew It all started on a dark and cold nfght. M y cat had ju st run away. I called m y friend Peter over to tell him the bad news. Peter said that his cats had run aw ay as well. We were too sad to go to sleep, so to get through the night w e told ghost stories. We told stories about w erew olves. It was the m iddle o f the night and we still could not sleep so w e decided to go for a ride on our dirt bikes. We drove through the woods. AH o f a sudden, w e saw som ething m ove in the bushes. We thought it w as our cats. We called, "Here kitty, kitty, kitty." Just then a w erew olf leaped out o f the bushes! Peter and I put our dirt bikes into top gear. All o f a sudden my bike started to sputter. I hoped that I w ould m ake it back to my house, but I knew I w ouldn't. I called to Peter, "I'm low on gas!" Peter said, "Can you m ake it hom e?"""I d o n 't th in k so." I d id not know w h at to do because I knew if I stopped the w erew olf w ould kill me. I w as sw eating so hard. R ight then m y bike started to shut dow n. P ete r's house was ju st ahead. M y bike broke down. 1 dropped it on the ground and I ran as fast as I could to P eter's house. We got into the house and slam m ed the door. The w erew olf scratched at the door. O ur hearts were pounding in our chests. I slept over at P eter's house for the night. In the m orning w e w ent outside and looked around for any signs o f a werewolf. P eter's door was broken. We w ent back inside. I turned on the radio and it said that explorers had gone into the woods and they never cam e back out. Peter and I think that the w erew olf could have got them. We decided to go back to the w oods. We stopped at a green and bubbly swam p, with bones beside a cave. This could be the hom e o f the w erew olf. We saw a rabbit tom to shreds. We drove on up to a high cliff w ith an old cage at the top o f it. I drove my truck back to my house. On the way we saw one o f P eter's cats alive on the road. I picked her up and we d rove to P e te r's house. Thank goodness the w ere w olf did not get her. W hen we got to P e te r's house we thought that we should get som e w eapons just in case we com e face to face with the werewolf. We w ent to som e stores and got knives, guns and som e other things that we might need. On our way out we saw the w erew olf chasing cars. We loaded our guns and w ent outside. It d id n 't seem to do anything. All it did w as m ake holes in his skin. We got into the truck and w ent to my house. We looked at books on w erew olves. It said that the only thing that could kill a w erew olf was a silver bullet through the heart. "Wait a second," I said. "R em em ber the old cage on the top o f the cliff?" "Yes" said Peter. "Well, if we get him in there, then we can shoot him in the heart." "Great idea," said Peter. "But, one thing, how do we get him in there?" "We can chase him with the truck, but first we have to find him." We both w ent outside and go into our trucks and w ent look ing for the werewolf. It was really easy to follow a w erew o lf because there was slo b b er everyw here. We saw him run into the woods. We chased him to the green swam p. It was start ing to rain. Just then P eter's truck slipped on mud and his truck w ent into the swamp. Peter jum ped out of his truck and into m ine. I drove after him . T he w erew o lf Was going to the end o f the cliff. Peter shot his leg and he tripped into the cage. He was locked in there. Right when Peter was going to shoot him again a bolt o f lightning hit the cliff. Peter shot at the sam e tim e. T he cliff fell. P eter's shot broke the ro o f off the cage. It fell and sm ashed at the bottom o f the cliff. We looked dow n, but the w erew olf did not die. T he w erew olf actually w alked aw ay with a broken leg. We drove home. On the way, I saw my cat carrying P eter's other cat. I picked them up and we w ent hom e. \Ye were so happy to see our cats. W hen w e got hom e we w ashed all the w erew olf slobber o ff o f them. The next night we heard how ling. The strange thing was, that I think it was com ing from my cat!
