The police services board looks forward to working with him to continue to implement innovative solutions and costeffective, community-based policing," Hicks said. "He will continue to build on the strong foundation established by Chief Beazley" Fletcher has a long policing career, starting in the Halton Region in 1984. He has experience in many facets of policing, including uniform patrol, criminal investigations, the tactical unit, the drug and morality bureau, the homicide unit, and in community policing support. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, has been recognized with a Governor General of Canada Order of Merit of the Police Forces, and is a recipient of a Queen' s Diamond Jubilee medal. Fletcher also served on the executive of the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP) as a director, and is past chair of the OACP Community Safety and Crime Prevention Committee. Fletcher and his wife, Jacquei, recently moved to Innisfil and have begun to get involved in a variety of community organizations. He is co-chair of the Simcoe County Local Immigration Partnership and is a member of the Innisfil Rotary Club. Outside of policing, Andrew has coached youth soccer, is a supporter of Special Olympics Ontario, and is a past board member with the Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK) -- a nonprofit charitable organization that helps children and youth. Beazley announced his retirement after nearly five years as chief. He took over the top post during a tumultuous time, as the service faced being replaced by the OPP. Beazley also guided the service through a cost containment process that has seen both BWG and Innisfil councils applaud him for keeping budgets in line. Beazley began his long career with the Winnipeg Police Service as a constable in November 1974. Years later, in 2000, he was appointed deputy chief of the Strathroy-Caradoc Police Service and later became their chief in 2009. He then became the South Simcoe chief in 2012. "Chief Beazley is recognized as an excellent police leader, not just in South Simcoe, but around Ontario. He will be missed, and leaves behind a legacy of a service of which we can be proud and is poised for the future," Hicks said.
