The incident took place at the Royal Bank of Canada, 2501 Third Line, on Friday, Dec. 23 at 10:45 a.m. Police investigators say two males entered the bank with one of them brandishing a handgun and both shouting for everyone to get to the ground. One of the would-be robbers made his way behind the service counter and approached the tellers. An off-duty Toronto police officer con fronted the two males. One of the men quickly fled the bank. The officer attempted to arrest the second man but the culprit was also able to flee the bank following a brief struggle. The suspects were last seen heading east on Dundas Street. No money was taken from the bank. Police contacted the Halton school boards so that parents and teachers at any schools near the bank were informed of the situation.
