This week, each class at the school has been given one camera with 27 photos to take pictures of the Education Week events. The photos are being compiled by Avery College, of College Photography Inc., into a spiral-bound Millennium Memories journal entitled, `A Week in the Life of St. Marguerite.' Principal Elaine Hine said the book will emphasis this years' Education Week theme of `Catholic schools making all things new.' St. Marguerite D'Youville students celebrate Catholic Education Week "This theme reminds us that our Catholic schools provide an education based on the beliefs of the Catholic tradition," Hine said. "It also emphasizes that Catholic education pro vides a distinct contribution to the students themselves and society as a whole." College, who also does the school's class photos, said he and Hine were talking about a yearbook concept and she suggested `a day in the life' book. He took that one step further suggesting they do `a week in the life' and applying it to Education Week. Hine loved the idea. "I just wanted a nice special memento that our students could have for not only Catholic Education Week, but also for Jubilee 2000 - that's our celebration in the Catholic church of 2000 years since Jesus was bom." College said this journal will be very dif ferent from other yearbooks because it is about the students, by the students. "I like to focus on the students. Someone said, `Why don't you get the Superintendent .down there' and I said, `Oh no, we don't need any of that stuff.' I like the kids - they're the important thing." Family members are invited to events put on by the classes all week. Some of these include a school council meeting, a dance-athon, a play on the Passions and a French cafe. At the end of the week, College is having a draw for the students to give away a 35mm camera valued at around $200. Local OPP officer remembered in Queen' s Park memorial The name of OPP Constable William McIntyre, of Oakville, is included on a Q ueen's Park m on ument honouring 200 O ntario police officers killed in the line of duty. More than 2,000 police offi cers from across the province attended the unveiling o f the O ntario Police M em orial on Sunday. M cIntyre was 33-years-old when he was shot to death in the bedroom o f his M arlborough Court apartment on Easter, 1984. McIntyre, who died as a result of a single gunshot wound to the head at close range, often posed as a biker while working under cover. Despite a m assive m urder probe co-ordinated by Halton and OPP detectives, the case remains unsolved. Police Day for entire fam ily Police Day 2000, a free, funfilled celebration for the whole family, takes place Sat. May 13th at Halton Regional Police headquarters.
