Lost 73 lbs.. 70" Halton Regional Police are looking for a man who stole a diamond ring on Valentine's Day then fled in van owned by a good Samaritan who tried to stop him. According to investigators, the incident transpired around 3:20 p.m. when a lone male entered Howard Williams Ltd., 309 Lakeshore Rd. E., and told the clerk he was looking for a diamond engagement ring. When the clerk showed him an expensive piece of jewelry, the man ran out of the store with it. Two store employees ran after him and a couple of passersby joined in the chase. One of these good Samaritans was driving a 1991 Aerostar van, which they left to assist in the foot chase. The vehicle was left running, however, so the thief doubled back and jumped into the van. He fled, but the van was found abandoned in the Inglehart Street/Cornwall Road area. The male suspect of unknown age is described as having an olive complexion, about six-feet tall with a lean build and black hair combed back with heavy gel. The back of his hair was coloured with red henna. He was wearing a black, hip-length leather Jacket, black pants and a black scarf. He also has a noticeable scar on his left eyebrow.
