(winner), second nominee Appleby College; and under 50 employ ees, Chubb Insurance (winner) and second nominee Fem Hill School. The Agency of the Year award went to SENACA Seniors Day Program. Also nominated were Halton Recovery House and Hope Place. The Leadership Campaign CARE-Y was awarded to UPS Logistics. The other two nomi nees were Ford and Omron Dualtec Automotive Electronics. The Labour Participation Award was presented to the Oakville and District Labour Council. Workplace leadership dona tions of $1,000 or more have increased by 62per cent. "Union are extremely sup portive of the United Way and employee campaigns," said Lenox Cooper, president of CAW Local 1256, and a former UWO campaign co-chair. "Having a similar vision as the United Way in caring for people and communities makes labour a natural partner." Cooper said the Oakville and District Labour Council "pro motes the United Way to all their affiliates, (and) has provid ed sponsorship for different campaigns and events for a number of years." Union repre sentatives sit on UW O's board of directors, Allocations Cabinet and the Citizens Review Process. The Community Special Event award was given to ISHOUT - Independent School Helping Oakville United Way Together, a week long campaign held at various schools in October that raised $52,000. "Once in a while there is an event that encompasses the whole community, parents, stu dents, teachers, agencies and companies," said presenter Jay Jackson, president of OPSEU 245 Sheridan College. The week-long campaign included raffles, draws, walks, runs, and a McDonald's night.
