The only house league team in the 24team division, the Oakville Red Lobster Vikings bested atom-A level teams from the Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario and the U.S. The final championship game saw Jeff Killip pot the overtime winner (in a four-onfour format) for a 3-2 win over North Sydney, the atom-A Nova Scotia provincial champions. Killip also picked up game M VP for his heroics. Oakville had frittered away a 2-0 lead, including the tying goal with just under two minutes remaining. Scoring for Oakville were Brian Richardson and M ike Lilakos (from Andrew Cormier). Goaltender Steve Mason was strong in net. A natural hat-trick by Brian Richardson were all the goals Oakville needed in a 3-0 semifinal win over Middleton. In quarterfinal action, Oakville erased a 1-0 deficit to defeat Clare 3-2. Richardson scored two goals with Killip adding the other. Oakville opened up the tourney with a 62 win over Liverpool. Richardson had four goals (including a natural hat-trick) and the other two goals were scored by Alan Goodhoofd. Assists went to Killip (3), Goodhoofd (3) and Kyle Skinner. Richardson was on fire in the second game scoring both goals in a 2-0 win. Goodhoofd and Rob Davies assisted on each of the goals. Wranglers win their own tournament The W ranglers minor peewee house league hockey team won their own tourna ment recently in exciting fashion, as it all boiled down to an overtime shootout in the championship game against a team from Grimsby. The Wash "N Go Esso W ranglers held a 3-2 lead late in the third period when Grimsby tied the game, sending it into overtime. Nothing was solved in the extra five minutes which led to the five-on-five shoot-out. W hen both teams had two goals after four shots each, Oakville's Eric Car scored and Eric Joyce, the W ranglers' goaltender, stopped the final Grimsby shot for the win. Andrew Bartucci and Shayne Michie also scored goals for Oakville during the shoot out. In regulation time, Bartucci had two goals with M ichie scoring the other. Assists went to Michie (2), Ryan Weir, Braheem Shaban, Ryan C orrigan and Matthew Gartshore. In round robin play, the W ranglers forged a 2-1 record, good enough for advancement to the final.
