The only house league team in the tour ney, the Oakville team outscored their opponents, .which included a tier 1 GTHL select team, 17-4. The Wolfpack advanced to the tourney finaZcjby beating the Etobicoke Bulldogs 80 and the Humber Valley Sharks 4-1. Their opponent in the championship game was the same Chatham select team who had given them their only loss (3-1) in round robin play. B ut the W olfpack dom inated the rematch, 4-0. Wolfpack goalie Jeff Burton was named tourney MVP. It was a great season for the Wolfpack who were MOHA novice red league cham pions and playoff champions. Just short of a medal The Oakville Vytis AAA bantam team fell ju st short o f a provincial medal this year, finishing fourth in Ontario. But that's a vast improvement for these girls, after finishing ,42nd overall in their inaugural campaign last year. The girls along with their coaches Vic Juzenas and M ike Johnston w orked very hard to move this team forward and to bring the club to the forefront of bantam girls basket ball in Ontario. Watch for rep tryout information this fall for the Oakville Vytis rep basketball club. In the bronze medal game, Oakville came up short, 55-39 to Brantford CYO. Robyn Starr had 10 points, leading the way for Oakville, with W hitney Has well, Sarah Dillon and Erin Valickis also making the scoreboard. Offensive boards were controlled by Starr, Haswell, and Megan Stang. On the defensive side, Haswell, D illon and Starr han dled rebounds. In the previous game, Oakville played against Hamilton Transway in a semifinal game that would decide who plays for the gold and bronze medals. Oakville fell a little short in the end, 39-31. Stang o f Our Lady o f Peace had 13 points for Vytis. Dillon, Haswell, Andreja Sergautis and Lauren Corkum each contributed with points. Diana Cosme and Stang controlled the boards at both ends o f the court. Oakville had three strong games leading into their matchup with Hamilton. In the first game, Oakville prevailed 51-30 over the Niagara Falls Red Raiders. Whitney Haswell o f Falgarwood had 12 points in the win. Krista Sestokas, Valickis and Cosme also had points. Sergautis, Sestokas, Starr, Haswell and Dillon had key rebounds. Vytis then defeated the Scarborough Lancers 40-29. Andreja Sergautis and Stang each had nine points, with Haswell and Dillon contributing. In the third game, in which a win meant moving on to the next round and a loss meant elimination, Oakville played a tight game against the Gloucester Wolverines and pre vailed with a 36-34 win. Sarah Dillon had eight points with Sergautis, Haswell and Sestokas chipping in. Sestokas had rebounds on both sides of the court, with Corkum adding some assis tance.
