BCSS board chair Brian Crawford announced Monday, Maryann Kerr would be taking over the helm of the BCSS. Her official start date in her new role was Monday, Nov. 2. "Maryann is an innovative, accomplished executive who will build on the success of BCSS and work with the community to envision and implement the next part of our journey," Crawford said in a media release. "She is a recognized leader in philanthropy, community engagement, fundraising, brandbuilding, strategy and partnership development. "We are thrilled Maryann is joining BCSS to work with our team of passionate volunteers and staff and to build on the outstanding work of Blair Lancaster to provide social and emotional support to those living with breast or gynecologic cancer," added Crawford. Kerr has worked in the social profit sector for 30 years, with the last 15 years in senior leadership roles. She was the founding executive director of Gilda's Club Greater Toronto and, most recently, worked to build a culture of philanthropy with the team at Hillfield Strathallan College in Hamilton. "I am excited to join Breast Cancer Support Services, following the great leadership of Blair Lancaster," Kerr said in the release. "I understand, on a deeply personal level, the importance of support for patients and families living with a cancer diagnosis. "I look forward to working collaboratively with the wonderful volunteers, staff and community to raise funds, build partnerships and ensure our services continue to be offered, refined and expanded," she continued. "This is an amazing time to be part of BCSS as we embark on the next chapter."
