This Saturday (Aug. 29), Halton police are inviting residents to help pack a cruiser with non-perishable food and school supplies for those in need in the community. The event, Cram-a-Cruiser, will run from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Real Canadian Superstore, 201 Oak Walk Dr. Officers will be accepting food donations for President's Choice Children's Charity. "I think people sometimes forget that there are people in need within our community," said Staff Sgt. Julie Craddock-Bijl of Halton police's Community Mobilization Bureau. "We know there are people in need and there are kids here who simply cannot afford to get the things on the back-toschool shopping list. Those school supplies we receive will be distributed by police to kids in need in the local community." Halton police will also hold a barbecue with proceeds going to President's Choice Children's Charity. McGruff the Crime Dog will be present to pose for photos with children.
