Halton police set to launch `Project Safe Start' campaign Halton police will once again take to the streets in force to keep children safe as they return to school. The annual `Project Safe Start' campaign will run from Monday, Aug. 31 to Friday, Sept. 11 with a focus on education, awareness and high-visibility enforcement of trafc laws in and around school zones. Of cers will use this multi-faceted approach to remind motorists to be especially careful with regard to the increased pedestrian and vehicular traf c in and around school zones and to pay attention to crossing guards. Police will keep an eye out for speeders, aggressive drivers and the use of hand-held devices while driving. Seatbelt compliance will also be strictly enforced. Frontline of cers, district response of cers, education services of cers, high school liaison of cers and senior command of cers will participate in the campaign. On Thursday, Sept. 10, senior of cers, divisional commanders and police executive of cers will take part in the `All Hands on Deck' component of Project Safe Start. According to police, Halton residents have ranked traf c concerns as their top policing priority in surveys.
