Mardi 1920 On Sunday afternoon Fred Moriey's son Char- ley, 5 years old, got into the créek at the Pine Street bridge. The swift current carried hlm nearly to the foot-bridge opposite Evergreen .Cemetery before he was rescued by Chas. Vates and Bert WheeIer. He was unconscious. Pending the arrivai of a physician, efforts were made to resuscitate the boy but they were flot successful until supplemented by those of the doctor. The boy is ail right now. At the Princess theatre, the play"Between the Acts" was presented by a cast of local ama- teurs to a crowded house. The proceeds went to the Ladies' Ai of Knox Church. The play is in the nature of a farcicai comedy, woven around the centrai figure, Dick Comfort, living comfortably on an allowance from his uncie Meander, upon condition that he neyer mar- ries. The part of Dick Comfort was weii taken by ourtalented youngtownsman Russell B. Haw- thorne. Miss Margaret Dewar as Mrs. Comfort displayed talent of no mean order. Roger Ptoi- emy made an ideai man servant and Miss An- nie McGibbon, in the role of Dick's aunt was perfection. There were 37 members, many of them living outside the town. Dr. An- derson, M.P. was ready to take the chair. Sgt. Major Eagleson and Sgt. Smiliie were on hand to report that the G.W.V.A. had dîscussed the proposed memorial and were unanimous in favor of a monument.
