Investigators sifting through social media tips continued from p.1 return home to their family and friends as soon as possible." Though it isn't the first time the friends have gone missing, police and the teens' families are concerned for their safety. On Tuesday, Halton police investigators issued a public appeal for help in finding them. While the girls were believed to be together in the area of Brampton's Main and Queen streets Monday, a reported sighting on Tuesday put them at Toronto's Union Station around 6:20 p.m. As a result, Halton police updated the girls' descriptions and Toronto and Peel police are assisting in the search. According to Bergman's Facebook profile, she attended Abbey Park High School. She is also a former student of Oakville's Allegro School of Dance, where she excelled at numerous types of dance, including ballet, jazz and hip-hop. Allegro's owner, Laura Dacyshyn, said Bergman attended the school for approximately five years, but stopped taking lessons there nearly two years ago. "She's a very good dancer. She won lots of awards and was a great student, a fantastic student," said Dacyshyn. "She's a hard worker, very talented, focused, happy. When she was at the studio she was a pleasure to teach." Dacyshyn said she does not know Ouskova. When contacted by the Oakville Beaver, Bergman's family did not give any comment, citing advice from Halton police. The Next Step's Twitter account, @TheNextStepTV , has been retweeting Halton police (@ HRPSOak) as the account continues to update the public on the investigation, in addition to posting those updates from police on its Facebook page. The missing girls' case has garnered a lot of attention on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit and other social media, as well as through radio, television and print media reports. Groups, such as the Missing Children Society of Canada and Acton Fire Fighters Association, have taken to Facebook, posting calls to help in the search for the missing teens, and to "like" and "share" the posts, and "help bring them home safe." While using social media, like Twitter hadn't, as of press time, helped locate Bergman or Ouskova, investigators say the relatively-new investigative tool has given them plenty of tips to follow up on. "We are monitoring the timeframe and where we think they may be. That could change at some point, but were hoping to find these two girls very soon," said Det.-Sgt. Andy Forde of the 20 District Criminal Investigations Bureau. Halton police aren't releasing additional information about the missing teens, however, Forde confirmed Bergman and Ouskova have gone missing in the past few months, but were returned home shortly after. On Wednesday, Halton police's Oakville Twitter account (@HRPSOak) posted a tweet at approximately 6 p.m. asking anyone with information on the missing teens to contact @ HaltonPolice or their local police service. Forde said investigators have been receiving many leads through Twitter and phone calls, and are sifting through those tips. He noted going to Twitter has become a practice by Halton police as another avenue to garner leads in a case. "We get as much information as we can. We update our press releases and Twitter. We just keep updating Twitter as we get information and we try and verify what we see on there," he said. "If we find something that's correct or viceversa, not correct, we try to remedy that right away and get the correct information out right away to people." Bergman is described as white, approximately 5-foot-6, weighing 95 pounds with newly-dyed blonde hair. She was last seen wearing an Adidas zip-up, track suit-style jacket and dark leggings or slim jeans. Ouskova is described as white, approximately 5-foot-2, 110 lbs., with long blonde hair, and was last seen wearing a black Bench jacket and dark pants. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of either of the teens is asked to contact the Halton Regional Police 20 Division Station at 905-825-4747, ext. 2210 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477(TIPS), online at www.haltoncrimestoppers.com, or by texting "Tip201" with your message to 274637 (crimes). -- with files from David Lea 3 | Friday, May 1, 2015 | OAKVILLE BEAVER | www.insideHALTON.com inside today's Editorial Artscene Beaver www.insideHALTON.com 6 52 Sports Classified 55 60 Holland Park Garden Alexanian Carpet & Flooring Home Hardware Real Estate Current Power Machinery New Homes Loyalty Group *All flyers not necessarily delivered to all homes For home delivery & customer service call 905-631-6095, 5300 Harvester Rd., Burlington New subscriptions call 905-631-6095 or subscribe online @ www.oakvillebeaver.com Sore Feet, Sports Injury, Painful Ingrown Toenails?
