breathing next year city ad ministrator Gerry Tamblyn said today Ontario Treasurer Darcy McKeough an nounced this morning that overall provincial funding for municipalities and school boards will increase by only 83 per centcompared to an increase of about 113 per cent which would have been expected under current revenuesharing arrangements The increase breaks down to 96 per cent for municipal expenses and 74 per cent for education The announcement came amid references by McKeough to restraint programs and even municipal staff cuts but Tamblyn said the announced figure should work no hardship on Barrie It sound better than what feared he said An incraisc of 83 is pretty close to the rate of inflation Tamblyn said he had feared the treasurer might announce that 1978 funds would be the same as for 1977 The city administrator said he expects budget constraints in Barrie to be much the same as this year when the city held he municipal tax rate increase to two per cent Somc
