The Simcoe County Rescue Squad has received 332000 federal Canada Works grant says squad coordinator Gary Joice The grant comes three months before the squads July target date for the beginning of operations Five office workers will be hired through Canada Man power with the money to staff the squads headquarters at Cedar View School on Highway 20 27 north of Barrie Well have business ad ministrator three clerical workers and handyman said Joice in an interview Sun day Two of the staff have already been hired The other three will be hired aft er tonights board of directors meeting All will start work im mediately says Joice Squad members are working this week to partition and fur nish general office area in one of two classrooms the school has The second classroom will be used for raining purposes The money comes at time when the squad is badly need ed says Joice Since January we have had numerous calls where the squad was needed he said One call came after mid night said Ioice with an urgent request for equipment that could free people trapped in cars in bad accident July has been set as the operational date because of the need generatdl by the heavy volume of summer traffic says Joice There are over 40000 cars on Highway 400 per day at the peak of the summer trallic he said In 197 the figures were 43600 cars between Highway 90 and Bayfield Street on the 400 To be
