The annual C heerios' M otherDaughter Walk for the Heart and Stroke Foundation takes place at Bronte Creek Provincial Park, Burloak Drive north of QEW, on Sunday. Participants can walk a five-kilometre route. Registration is 9 a.m. near Parking Lot D. The walk starts at 10 a.m. Participants are asked to raise at least $20 in pledges or pay a $15 fee. Proceeds from the walk will go to research and promotion to reduce pre mature death and disability from heart disease and stroke. Participants can cycle the Glen Abbey Trails, or ride to Milton and back, in their effort to raise funds for the Halton Lung Association. Cyclists can choose a five-kilometre or 20-kilometre route through the Glen Abbey Trails, or a 60-kilometre ride from Oakville to Milton and back along scenic roads. A turn-around check-in point at Loblaws in Milton will include a barbecue. The event will start and finish at the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre on Third Line south o f Upper Middle Road. The 60-kilometre ride leaves at 9 a.m.; the 20-kilometre trek goes at 10 a.m., followed by the five-kilometre cycle at 10:30 a.m. Cyclists are asked to be at the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre at least 45 minutes before their chosen ride starts. Proceeds will be used to help people suffering from respiratory diseases. The more money individuals raise, the greater the chances of receiving prizes - a Raleigh Elkhom bike for $1,500 or more; a Raleigh Matterhorn bike for at least $1,000; Sugoi jersey for $500, Bell helmet for $300; and Moby Gell gloves for a minimum $200 in pledges. The top fundraising company team will receive bomber-style jackets. Registration fees are $25 for adults and teens aged 15 and up; $15 for chil dren 14 and under; and $80 for fourmember company teams. There will be a barbecue at the Glen Abbey Recreation Centre at the conclu sion of the ride. For information, call the Halton Lung Association at 905-847-1033.
