Tim Hortons holiday skating Take advantage of Tim Hortons' free holiday skating events. During the month of December, the restaurant chain is hosting more than 70 free skate times at arenas in Oakville, Burlington and Milton. "Tim Hortons is delighted to give back to the communities where we live, work and play. Free holiday skating is just one way we thank our loyal guests for their continued support throughout the year," said Anne-Marie Shore, Oakville Tim Hortons owner. "It also provides families and friends the opportunity to spend some quality time together during the holiday season." The free holiday event was first established in 1993 in Burlington and has since spread to approximately 175 regions and 350 ice rinks across Ontario and Quebec participating in the program. Local free skates will be held at the following locations: Glen Abbey Community Centre; Joshua's Creek Arenas; Kinoak Arena; Maple Grove Arena; Oakville Arena; River Oaks Community Centre; and Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. Public meeting on new northeast school A public information meeting will be held for the Halton District School Board school currently under construction in Oakville -- northeast Oakville No. 1 elementary school. The meeting is an opportunity to share information about the boundary review process, review scenarios for school boundaries, and advise the public how to provide online feedback. The school is to be open by September 2015. The scenarios to be presented at the meeting will be posted on the Halton District School Board website (www.hdsb.ca). Members of the public are asked to check the website prior to the meeting. Scenarios will be posted as soon as they are available.
